Many people are wondering why Apple didn’t release iPhone 18 and 18 e models during the Apple event on 9th September, 2026.
Apple released the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, but didn’t launch the iPhone 18 or iPhone 18e. One of the reason as experts point out is that these will be competing with Apples own product line. So apple decided to make this event highlight only the premium product line, that is iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max and iPhone Duo, new folding mobile.
It is indicated that regular iPhone 18 and iPhone 18e and iPhone Air will be released around March-April of 2027. This way Apple can force costlier models to be purchased during the festival time across the world that is X’mas around America, Europe and Diwali around Asia.
There is another theory that Folding iPhone needed a huge spotlight. Releasing affordable models along with premium models would have pushed buyers to opt for affordable models. new iPhone Duo sets a new record price for a mobile phone device which starts at $1,900 USD / Rs. 1,99,900 in India. (256 GB storage model)
One theory suggests that Apple manufacturing line is not ready for releasing so many models all together. As RAM and Storage prices are highest in the market Apple targeted the premium models. affordable models will be targeted in early 2027 when RAM and Storage prices ease.
Also one theory that Apple still has a pile of iPhone 17 stock which needs to be cleared before iPhone 18 is launched. It could be also extending the release span of affordable models and earn more profit from it.
Apple could be thinking of many Apple events to keep users engaged and media excited about their products. But this needs to be seen if this age old consumer psychology works while Apple is stretching for market share and profits gain.
Competition is catching up fast with Samsung and Huawei offering look alike models with good performance and features. Currently only holding point for consumer is Apple ecosystem or Android ecosystem to opt for.
